Disinfection and Sanitation Track

The effects of cyanuric acid (CYA) on disinfection have received a lot of attention lately because CYA slows the disinfection rate of chlorine. Although unstabilized chlorine has been used for decades, slow dissolving trichloroisocyanurate tablets have continued to be used and misused in venues where convenience has been the primary factor in sanitizer choice. This talk will present data on a new slow-dissolve chlorine tablet technology based on calcium hypochlorite. All the various chlorine sources will be discussed, along with their advantages and limitations. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of unstabilized chlorine sanitizer options, and how they can use them to avoid overstabilization and maintain chlorine efficacy.
