A detailed investigation of plaster coupons exposed to simulated swimming pool water with a range of concentrations of cyanuric acid (GAS No. 108-80-5) was performed. Plaster coupons were prepared in accordance with customary industry guidelines based on input and guidance documents from the National Plasterer's Council. The plaster coupons were exposed for a period of six months. Water quality parameters were routinely monitored and chemical adjustments were made to maintain conditions within acceptable swimming pool water balance parameters. Pre- and post-immersion surface roughness measurements were made as outlined in ANSI/ASME B46.1 and light optical photo-microscopic imaging was carried out. No measurable surface deterioration via surface roughness and optical photo-microscopic imaging was observed up to 250 mg/L cyanuric acid, the highest cyanuric acid concentration tested.
