Staff Bios

  • Hannah Caproon

    Hannah Caproon joined NSPF in April of 2018, and is responsible for developing engaging and effective learning content. She earned her Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University - Bloomington, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and English from Iowa State University. She has nearly a decade of experience as a technical writer and project manager in the outdoor industry, and is in constant pursuit of learning experiences and improvement projects. Hannah spends her free time training and competing as an elite cyclist, traveling, volunteering in the outdoor and sporting community, and eating her weight in pastries.

  • Kirsten Denome

    Originally from Michigan, Kirsten grew up swimming. To this day, she still enjoys swimming, whether in a pool, or a lake, or the waves of the ocean. Kirsten truly cares about helping others and the importance of water safety; in addition, she plans to return to school in pursuit of a degree in Healthcare Management. In her free time, Kirsten enjoys spending time with family and her two cats, Frank and Elfie. Kirsten recently hiked 400 miles on the Camino De Santiago De Compostela, from southern France all the way across northern Spain.

  • Robert Griego

    A Navy veteran, Robert joined NSPF in 2016. Robert’s vast history of work helps him create magical IT experiences at NSPF. In New Mexico he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratories and Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino. In Colorado, Robert worked for Genesis Financial Technologies Software in a variety of positions, first on the flagship Stock Market trading software TradeNavigator, then Android programming for the secondary company MogulWorx, and finally as VP of Operations. Outside of work you might find Robert exploring Colorado with his three children or motorcycle riding throughout the state.

  • Charles Jones

    An Army veteran, Charles joined NSPF in 2013 after graduating from Colorado Technical University with a BS in Computer Science/Computer Systems Security. He has worked for several companies specializing in developing, designing, and maintaining websites. When not working on his own projects, he enjoys working out, playing and making video games, and spending time with his wife and two kids.

  • Michelle Kavanaugh

    Michelle has been with the foundation for almost 12 years. In that 12 years, she has worn many hats and gained experience in all aspects of the company. Now, as Mission Development Director, Michelle is responsible for managing the team that finds training solutions for organizations in the aquatics industry. In addition, she works with the Instructor Education Committee to coordinate and manage the NSPF Instructor Assessment schools for the foundation. In 2010, she was tasked with overseeing the planning of the World Aquatic Health Conference. She strives to make this annual conference the premier educational experience for attendees. Michelle has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado.

  • Tom Lachocki

    Tom earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Louisiana State University and his B.S. from Lock Haven University. He has held positions in research and business development in recreational-water treatment, surfactants, lubricants, catalysts, and solvents prior to joining NSPF in 2003; he is an inventor on eight patents. He has held leadership positions in various trade association committees and Boards of Directors. Tom has two sons who require him to enjoy cooking and who keep him humble. Tom has earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, the arts, writing and public speaking. He has also finished two marathons.

  • Faye Lindsey

    After a career in telecommunications and administrative positions, Faye is officially “retired” but still likes to stay active in the business community. She enjoys the interaction with NSPF employees and customers, keeping her skills current while working part time. When not at NSPF, Faye volunteers at Silver Key, a local non-profit senior resource organization. She’s an avid reader, her favorite genre being historical novels. The book club she attends gives her a variety of other subjects to also enjoy. Gardening, camping, and spending time with the kids and grandkids are her favorite pastimes.

  • Rose Lyda

    Rose Lyda has been a swimmer her whole life, for health and recreation, and as a swim instructor and lifeguard she has developed a great appreciation for aquatic safety. Rose became NAUI certified in Oklahoma, where the most exciting part of the check-out dive was feeding fish Cheerios amid Christmas trees and cars at the bottom of Lake Tahlequah. An elementary teacher by education, Rose has taught in Oregon, Oklahoma, and Moscow, Russia. Recently having completed a Masters in Public Administration, Rose is engaged civically in the local Colorado Springs community in the non-profit, private, and public sectors. A lover of life, Rose enjoys listening to live music and exploring arts and culture. An ideal Saturday is morning yoga in the park, coffee and a visit to the farmers’ market, then cooking with fresh produce. Rose also loves to travel and always packs a swimsuit!

  • Dolores Malocsay

    Born and educated in southern England, Dolores took lifesaving and swimming courses at a very early age and became a breast-stroke “pacer” for crawl competitors. She came to the States “just for a visit,” but became a permanent resident and met her husband, Zoltan, in Colorado. They spent several years traveling, living in a mountain tent, and spending two winters with the Mayan Indians in Yucatan. Together they founded Zoltan Designs, wholesalers of original 14k jewelry, and Squeezy Press, publisher of guide books. Prior to joining NSPF, Dolores worked in the hospitality industry and was named Manager of the Year! When not to creating magical experiences at NSPF, Dolores enjoys their 90-degree pool, where she experiments with designing swim-related exercise equipment. Other interests include interior design, gourmet cooking, and creative sewing.

  • Angela Manning

    A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Graphic Design, Angela has worked for several companies as an in-house designer, including the Atlanta Community Food Bank, a non-profit dedicated to providing food and other resources to low-income Georgians. After moving west to Colorado, she joined NSPF in 2018. Besides the creative process, Angela enjoys reading (especially the classics and science fiction), board games, midcentury style, going biking with her husband, and hanging out with her two bunnies, Toothless and Astrid.

  • CJ Martin

    CJ leads the social and print media efforts and helps promote captivating public narratives for NSPF. With a decade of university teaching experience and an even longer engagement with small press publishing, he sees his job at NSPF as a chance to put a diverse set of language and media skills to work in service of a cause he supports. CJ relishes the opportunity to vastly expand that skill set through new industry relationships and through the generous spirit of the marketing team. When he’s at home, he’s an experimental poet, a letterpress printer and fine bookbinder, and a fledgling gardener.

  • Suzan McCoy

    Suzan joined NSPF at the end of January 2018, with a BS from Iowa State University. Her previous twelve years of experience were in event coordination at the local County Fair, and two years coordinating dirt track races in Colorado. Two of Suzan’s passions in life are water and swimming; most all her vacations are centered around water activities, like swimming, snorkeling, fishing and even a little surfing! She enjoys living in the country on 40 acres with her family, 2 horses, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Her pride and joy are her three kids.

  • Johnathan Nies

    Johnathan was born and raised in Colorado Springs and joined the NSPF team in February 2017. He has worked in aquatics since he was 15, with experience ranging from lifeguard to swim instructor, and prior to joining NSPF as Assistant Aquatics Director at a local fitness club. In his current role, Johnathan creates magic in the industry by identifying training solutions for individuals’ needs. In his spare time, Johnathan enjoys hiking and spending time with friends and family.  He is currently working on his degree in Fire Science Technology.

  • Ray Perkins

    Ray has specialized in customer service delivery for several decades, from managing and training teams, to designing and implementing customer service (CRM) software packages on four continents. Ray’s experience suits him perfectly as NSPF’s Process and Technology Leader. He and his wife Donna like to travel and both enjoy historical research (ask him about his relative who served in Napoleon’s Grande Armée). Ray considers research and data analysis to be “fun!”

  • Rosa Pichette

    Rosa is responsible for both NSPF’s and GENESIS’s accounting functions which include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Month-Close General Ledger responsibilities. Rosa brings a great deal of experience to her Accountant position from both her previous job in our Fulfillment department as well as from similar accounting positions that she’s held at other organizations. She is a Colorado-native who enjoys spending time with her family at home along with her two dogs and exploring Colorado.

  • Breaya Quintana

    Breaya Quintana is a native of Colorado. From obtaining an Associates in Exercise Science and Personal Training in 2013 to continuing her education toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Breaya is an active learner. She expects to graduate in summer of 2018 and then pursue a masters degree in counseling. She enjoys being active, swimming, working out, and hiking. Her many years of customer service experience enable her to create magical experiences for customers at NSPF.

  • Andrew Roberts

    Andrew Roberts, a native of London UK, moved to Barbados at the age of 9 and has since been swimming as a passion for over 20 years. At 17, Andrew created HydroTest, Inc. which is responsible for the import, sale and training of water infrastructure development to the Barbados Water Authority and multiple hotel chains and groups around the Caribbean. Andrew joined a water quality testing manufacturer in 2010 and worked within multiple water quality industries for 8 years. Andrew holds a patent within the water quality sector, specializes in water chemistry, sales, and public education, and has been published in numerous trade publications and scientific whitepapers.

  • Ashley Salazar

    Ashley was born and raised in Colorado, and pursued Early Childhood Education in college. Since having children of her own, Ashley has gained many years of experience in customer service and is excited to contribute her knowledge to the NSPF Customer Service team. During her free time, she loves spending time with her children and fiancé, or at the gym. Over the past few years she has developed a passion for cooking and enjoys “trying” new things!

  • Erika Snow

    A Colorado native, Erika has a passion for all aspects of marketing and received her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Colorado State University. She has worked for several companies specializing in branding, SEO, and content creation. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, exploring new restaurants in Colorado Springs, and blogging.

  • Lauren Stack

    Lauren joined the NSPF leadership team in 2015, with experience in the swimming pool and hot tub industry extending back twenty years. In the first half of her career, Lauren found herself in hot water working for Aristech Acrylics, a sheet supplier to the hot tub industry. The latter half was spent working for the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals in a variety of capacities. Lauren credits the people she has met and the friendships and partnerships forged through a shared love and passion for water for keeping her in the industry. Lauren resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her dog-like ragdoll cat Thomas. With a BS in Chemistry and an MBA, both from the University of Pittsburgh, Lauren is a sports fan (Go, Pittsburgh!!) and enjoys working out to P90X and snow skiing.

  • Natalie Strong

    Originally from California, Natalie has been a lifeguard and swim instructor for 8 + years and loves everything aquatics. Growing up she was on the swim team all year around and really believes in the health benefits. Natalie is currently working on her BA in Business and is very excited to bring new ideas to the team while managing both Customer Service and Fulfillment. Her passions are the gym, cooking good food, and spending quality hiking time with her two Jack Russell terriers. She recently completed her first Iron Man and is looking forward to her next fitness challenge.

  • Alma Valdez

    Alma was born and raised in San Diego, California and joined the NSPF team in September 2018. She has studied Medical Billing & Coding at Pikes Peak Community College. She enjoys hiking, working out, cooking and spending time with her son and her puppy. She’s recently gone snorkeling for the first time in the beautiful ocean of Hawaii and wants to continue to try new swimming activities.

  • Alina Wall

    Originally from Ukraine, Alina is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian languages. She lived in Baltimore for over 18 years and is a graduate from the University of Baltimore, with a BA in Psychology. She relocated to Colorado Springs with her husband May of 2018. In her spare time she likes to volunteer. She has been a volunteer for Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital, Baltimore Country Public Schools, and recently the Care and Share Food Bank here in Colorado Springs. She is keen on helping others and learning new things.

  • Susan Wichmann

    Susan earned a BA in Communications from DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana.  Before joining NSPF in 2010, Susan was a Volunteer Coordinator and Substitute Teacher.  Susan is married to a retired Air Force Officer and mom of three children: Andrew, Megan, and Brad. When not mothering her own children, she’s known as “Mamma Wichmann” to over 30 current cadets and graduates of the Air Force Academy.  Susan enjoys cooking for her family and cadets, going to USAFA football games with friends, sewing, gardening, and photography.  Her latest passion is painting everything in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®, including the kitchen cabinets at NSPF headquarters.
