NSPF® Scholarship and Fellowship Program

Scholarships

The National Swimming Pool Foundation is a non-profit foundation whose mission is to encourage healthier living by increasing aquatic activity through education and research. The NSPF Scholarship Program was founded to honor public swimming pool or spa operators who have pursued further education to better protect public health by achieving the NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator® certification status.
The following scholarship awards are available. Recipients of specific awards will be determined by NSPF after reviewing all applications.

National Swimming Pool Foundation Board of Directors’ Scholarship Award
(2) — $2,000

National Swimming Pool Foundation Scholarship Award
(up to 12) — $1,000

To be considered for any of the available scholarships, the applicant must be an ACTIVE Certified Pool/Spa Operator®, NSPF Instructor, or the immediate family member of an active CPO® Certification holder or NSPF Instructor and submit a completed application package. Only one scholarship per applicant will be awarded. Previous award recipients are ineligible for consideration.

Deadline:
Scholarships are awarded for the fall semester of each year. In order to be considered for the fall 2018 semester, the complete application package must be received by the National Swimming Pool Foundation
no later than June 1, 2018.

Award Notification:
Award recipients will be notified on or before August 1, 2018. Upon award, payment will be submitted directly to the college or university.
Awards cannot be paid directly to students.

Scholarship Application and Instructions

Fellowships

The National Swimming Pool Foundation has established the NSPF Fellowship Program to encourage and support graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who focus research in two areas associated with aquatic venues where water is treated to maintain a sanitary condition (e.g. swimming pools, spas/hot tubs, therapy pools, water parks, etc.):

  1. Research to reduce the risk to people associated with - but not limited to - physical facility design, exposure to chemical or pathogenic contaminants, air quality, drowning, or entrapment, etc.
  2. Research to investigate and document the positive health consequences of aquatic activities against maladies such as - but not limited to - high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, aging, physical therapy, arthritis, etc.

The following fellowship awards are available:

National Swimming Pool Foundation® Fellowship (up to 8) — $1,000

National Swimming Pool Foundation® Board Fellowship (2) —  $ 2,000 

To apply and receive a fellowship, the applicant must be a) enrolled full-time and pursuing an advanced academic degree or a post-doctoral researcher at an academic institution and b) include a completed fellowship application.

Deadline:
In order to be considered for the fall 2017 semester, the complete application package must be received by the National Swimming Pool Foundation
no later than June 1, 2018.

Award Notification:
Award recipients will be notified on or before August 1, 2018. Awards will be paid in two installments (fall and spring semester) when award recipients demonstrate enrollment.
