Pool Safely Grant Application Now Open for 2019
You might know that we’ve long been partnered with Pool Safely, the water safety education wing of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). If you’re like us, you’ve probably taken the Pool Safely Pledge. (And if you haven’t, what are you waiting for?)
But have you heard about the CPSC’s Pool Safely Grant Program? Established as part of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act (VGB Act), Pool Safely Grants help local governments promote water safety efforts by providing vital and substantial funding to the winning applicants. The application period for this year’s round of $2 million in funding is open until June 5, 2019.
Of course, if you’ve been reading our news, you’ll remember that the last round of funding covered up to 200 CPO® Certifications for the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut. CPO® Certification Instructors at Blue Wave Pools received the contract from Bridgeport and have been hard at work spreading the CPO Certification safety message in their neck of the woods. CPO® Certification prepares operators to address (among many other operational issues) crucial drain entrapment risks.
Whether you’re an Instructor or just have a vested interest in funding for water safety initiatives in your region, be sure to talk up this grant opportunity to your health department contacts. Read more and access the grant application here.
