#WAHC2017: Insider's Tour
Explore Boulder's Finest - Tour 3 Different Aquatic Facilities
It's time to shine a spotlight on #WAHC2017 Insider's Tour, a fan favorite for pool operators, facility managers, and builders of all kinds! It's your chance to learn how Boulder, Colorado's, facilities operate on a day-to-day basis. When you arrive a day early to the World Aquatic HealthTM Conference and pay an additional $65, you'll get the opportunity to take the Insider's Tour on October 18, 2017. Lunch and transportation are included in the ticket price.
What Can I Expect?
While touring three different aquatic facilities, you'll get an exclusive, behind the scenes look and learn more about sustainable practices for a college recreational center, a community center, and an aquatic park. This Boulder tour will also teach you how to make your facility more profitable! Are you ready to learn a little more about each facility you'll be visiting near the Mile High City?
University of Colorado Boulder Recreational Center
The University of Colorado has so much to offer, it's nearly impossible to cover it all! Their Outdoor Pool and Patio features bubble benches, a lounge chair sunbathing shelf, a jetted area, water volleyball & basketball, wet locker rooms, as well as plenty of social gathering space on the patio with gas grills, picnic areas, lounge chairs and bench areas in the terrace garden. The outdoor pool is open seasonally and may close during inclement weather. They also offer a Competition Pool with eight lap lanes (25 yard), water temperature 81 degrees and locker rooms. Their Dive Well includes two one-meter diving boards, one three-meter diving board, and a depth of 12-14 feet. They offer classes that vary, from water jogging to fitwell activities. In addition, Clare Small Pool and Carlson Pool have four lanes (25 yard) for lap swimming.
East Boulder Community Center - Boulder Government Owned
Classes and programs are offered at the East Boulder Community Center, but let's focus on amenities. The eight lane (25 yard) lap pool stays around 81 degrees. Families love to enjoy their weekends at the leisure pool with the small tot slide, basketball hoop, large twist water slide, bubble bench, and lazy river that is usually 92 degrees. In addition to their sun deck with views of the beautiful Flatirons, the center also features a hot tub, steam room, and family locker room.
The Bay Aquatic Park - Broomfield Government Owned
The tour will finish off at the The Bay Aquatic Park, which is a great example of family fun AND safety. They offer the Bay Blitz (a full week of water aerobic madness) and Friday Family Nights. What's really interesting about the Bay, though, is their daily safety check! Every day at 2 PM, they clear all pools for a 20-minute safety check. Adults are allowed to swim in the main pool during this break while pool operators perform the safety check on both the pool itself and the equipment. The Bay features ADA accessibility, a body slide, pool, spray ground, a tot pool, and a tube slide.
