WAHC Track Tuesdays: Advanced Filtration Science

Who Should be There?
Advanced Filtration Science is a great track for manufacturers, pool operators, CPO Certification holders, NSPF Instructors, academia, and even builders. Filtration is one of the most important components for a clean and healthy pool. Learning the ins and outs could make every aquatic worker a better, more seasoned professional.

WAHC speaker jamesNew to WAHC 2016, Advanced Filtration Science will be a Friday event on October 21 in Nashville, TN. Dr. James Amburgey, a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will lead the discussion through 4 different topics. Pool Filtration mechanisms, precoat filtration, sand filtration, and up-and-coming pool filtration innovations will be heavily touched upon this year.

What Will be Covered?
Every pool operator should understand the mechanisms of how filters work because it leads to differences in particle removal efficiency, energy use, water use, and overall cost of ownership. Dr. Amburgey's first session will focus on how to choose or better operate your filter. Next up, tf you’re interested in producing excellent water clarity and removing chlorine-resistant pathogens like Cryptosporidium up to 99%, then Precoat Filtration is a must attend WAHC track.

The third track of the day will concentrate on sand filtration and using coagulants to improve pathogen removal in recreational water. This track can help improve the removal of Crypto, therefore decreasing the likelihood RWI outbreaks at your facility. Finally, the Advanced Filtration Science will close with a talk about hybrid filtrations, ceramic media, and the future of pool filtration innovations. The latest research results will provide insight into regulatory hurdles such as private lab certifications. This will also be an opportune time to get answers about filtration from a leading expert in our field.
