On Thursday morning, keynote speaker Eadric Bressel talks accessibility as a strategy for expanding your market. And Friday morning, Feras Irikat will lead off his WAHC whirlwind with a keynote on embracing a culture of innovation, followed by two sessions (and two encore sessions) on design, audience, and color psychology. Eadric Bressel and The Health Benefits of Water Activity

Thursday, October 11, 8:30–9:30am

A critical review of the scientific literature will reveal that aquatic activities are either more beneficial or on par with land-based activities for improving physical and cognitive health. However, there is an interesting disconnect between the populations tested in the research and actual majority of pool users in America. For example, the majority of populations tested in the research are people with disabilities or younger healthy adults and the majority of pool users, as reported by the CDC, are children and teens. It seems there is a missed opportunity for gaining profits in the aquatic profession.

This presentation will provide evidence-based suggestions for marketing aquatic activities to those with disabilities and the elite athletes. If you are a swimming pool facility manager or manufacturer and were looking for ways to better market your facility or equipment, this information could be useful to you.

Dr. Eadric Bressel is a professor and director of the movement research clinic at Utah State University (USU) in Logan, Utah. His aquatic research examines neuromechanical adaptations to therapeutic exercise. With his academic appointment in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science at USU Eadric is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.

New WAHCTrack: Design & Engineering

Join Feras Irikat for a New Track with a Design Focus

Attendees may also join Irikat for the new WAHC Track, Design & Engineering. This Friday track features two sessions led by Irikat, and for those who miss the morning sessions, Irikat will also host an encore for each session in the afternoon:

  • 2018 & Beyond: Learn how and why trends are born, the way to analyze the drivers, and the signs to spot those trends. In this presentation, Irikat will teach participants how to identify the new always-changing consumer and identify fresh ways to reach a new audience. In addition, Feras will reveal the latest macro- and micro-trends in design so listeners can be preparing their response to the “next big thing."
  • Color Psychology: Color is like a language; it’s one of the most basic means of communication. To achieve the best results in use of color, it must be understood as well as experienced. In this presentation, participants will be introduced to the basic dynamics of color: its principles, fundamentals, psychology, and applications. Join Feras in examining the impact of visual system, light, and texture on color in the design environment. Feras will also present the basics of color theory and psychology, followed by an engaging discussion on how to decode colors down to their original DNA.

The WAHC takes place October 11–12 in Charleston, South Carolina. See you soon! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter at #WAHC2018.
