WAHC 2016: Insider's Tour
Explore Unique Aquatic Facilities
Are you an aquatic professional that is interested in learning how other facilities operate on a day-to-day basis? Then we have just the event for you! Head to NSPF’s World Aquatic Health™ Conference a day early for this opportunity. On Wednesday, October 19, you can attend the Insider’s Tour where you will get to visit unique aquatic facilities around Nashville, TN.
What Can I Expect?
During the tour, you will get to explore the ins-and-outs of three different aquatic facilities in Nashville. Get an exclusive, behind the scenes look and learn more about the best, sustainable practices for a newly-built high school natatorium, a JCC with an indoor and an outdoor saltwater pool, and a university recreation center. This tour will also teach you how to make your facility more profitable! So let’s take a closer look at what each facility will have to offer us as we explore Music City.
Newly Built: Ensworth High School Natatorium
Officially opened in 2014, Ensworth’s Natatorium includes a 50-Meter competition pool, ten 50-Meter lanes, a heated instructional pool, diving spring boards, and much more. You won’t want to miss out on Ensworth, as it offers a new approach to training athletes in shorters lanes. The pool design allows the coach to get creative with the length of the lanes for each class. Check out the pool during the tour or visit their website or Facebook to learn more.
Jewish Community Center: Gordon JCC Nashville
Perhaps you have to grapple keeping track of both an outdoor and an indoor pool? Or maybe you are interested in learning about the do’s and don’ts of saltwater pools? Look no further! Adventurers will get the chance to discover how Gordon JCC handles their two saltwater pools. Amazingly, JCC also offers one of the most robust and sought-after aquatics programs in Music City. The aquatics program offers swim lessons for anyone aged 6-99! Visit their website or Facebook to learn more about GJCC’s swim lessons.
University Recreation Center: Vanderbilt Recreation & Wellness Center
If a full university facility floats your boat more, then no worries! Our last stop includes the 25 yard by 35 meter pool which ranges from 3 - 10 feet in depth. This facility is capable of up to 15 lap lanes, sits at a comfortable 82 degrees, and has a disability pool lift available. The Vanderbilt Rec and Wellness Center has been the leading swim teaching facility in Nashville for almost 50 years! Today, the center hosts a variety of activities including swim practices, free swim, water polo, kayaking clinics, and water aerobics. Check out Vanderbilt’s website or Facebook page to learn more.
Hmmm…. How Will I Fit this Into my Schedule?
Easily, as I said, just show up a day early! The time of the tour will begin at 9:00 am sharp and end around 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 19. A lunch will be included as will the transportation. You just need to be in the Sheraton Music City Hotel lobby before 9:00 am and you will be on you way to discovering new facilities with information to make your facility more profitable.
