Tom Metzbower, B.S. Biology, M.Ed. Chemisty Education. Tom Metzbower is Vice President of Sales for Taylor Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of reagents and testing equipment used for water quality monitoring in a wide variety of applications, including drinking water protection, food and beverage processing, and swimming pool and spa maintenance. Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in 1967 from Towson University, then Maryland’s most noted state teachers’ college, majoring in biology and mentoring in chemistry. Following graduation he began his 13-year career teaching high school students biology, chemistry, general science and environmental studies. In 1969 he was awarded his fi rst National Science Foundation (NSF) fellowship to attend a Summer Institute for the advancement of secondary school chemistry teachers. Two other NSF fellowships followed, enabling Tom to complete a special master’s degree program for chemistry educators at the University of Delaware in 1972. For a period of six years Digital Equipment Corporation then employed him as a salesman and professional trainer. Tom’s grounding in science, teaching, and sales led to his recruitment by Taylor in 1988   to lead the company’s sales and marketing efforts. He is currently responsible for assisting in development of new products, organizing water chemistry/testing seminars for Taylor customers and external events dedicated to ongoing professional development, serving as a contributing writer and reviewer for technical articles solicited by trade journals who cover water testing, and representing test kit manufacturers and/or the industries we serve where needed to advance the causes important to our mutual success.
