This presentation highlights the foundational principles of organizational change, cultural competency, and how the diversity discussion is influencing the sport of swimming. AJohn Cruzat is the National Diversity Specialist at USA Swimming. He is responsible for developing and implementing corporate strategy to make USA Swimming Olympic National Governing Body and the 300,000 member organizations more inclusive. Prior to his contributions at USA Swimming, Mr. Cruzat was the Vice President of Programs at Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region, Chief Sales Manager at Full Spectrum Finance and served in the United States Army for over 20 years. He serves as President on the Board of Advisors for Colorado Edison Schools, the Board of Directors for Beacon University, Teen Court, T.E.S.S.A. and the Colorado Community Preparatory School. Mr. Cruzat is a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Advisory Committee, Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region Executive Committee, NAACP Executive Committee and the Colorado Springs Black Leadership Forum. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Resource Management from Troy State University in Alabama. He is currently working on is Master of Business Administration from Capella University in Minnesota.
